Children And Cold Sore

children and cold sore

Cold sores are common among young children, but outbreaks often become less frequent as a child gets older. Children who get infected with HSV-1 may get cold sores occasionally for the rest of their lives. For some children, too much stress, too much time in the sun or getting sick can all cause cold sores to reappear after the initial contraction of the virus. Eating well, getting enough rest, and learning how to deal with stress are all important things children should do to help reduce outbreaks or alleviate symptoms during an outbreak. Putting on sun block lip balm and sunscreen on the face before going out in the sun may also help prevent cold sores from reappearing in children who tend to get them.
